Les Ballets Russes
Interprated by
Isabelle de Borchgrave

On process.

In Isabelle de Borchgrave’s view the ‘Ballets Russes’ constitute the most beautiful way to bring together painting, music, dance, stage and fashion. When Diaghilev left Russia for Paris together with his Company he brought together huge talents such as Picasso and Goncharova, Nijinsky, Bakst or Derain. The parisian public, not used to this new form of classical dance, would discover Diaghilev and all the Russian and French talents he brought together. Much later Béjart would come back to this, explains Isabelle.

This collection will consist of 40 dresses shown against some background sets. The mannequins made of wire will be created in the Studio each adopting a dance pose. Few of these figures will touch the ground. It will be a dance of colour and paper. Thanks to the exhibitions ‘Papiers à la Mode’ and ‘Un Mondo di carta: Isabelle de Borchgrave incontra Mariano Fortuny’ a vast knowhow has been developed in Isabelle’s Studio. It is an explosion of colours , she tells us. The paper will produce a new experience through its contact with all these outstanding talents. We will cause the ‘Ballets Russes’ to live again without nostalgia.
